Excel Preferences don't stick...?

Why is it that I can't seem to set Excel's prefs to NOT display page
breaks globally? Whenever i open a new document, I have to go back and
reset that preference, which defaults to displaying page breaks every
time. It's driving me crazy!

Thanks,

Adam

What version of XL? Have you created a default workbook?

If other prefs aren't changing, it's possible that your prefs file is
corrupt. Try deleting the

~:Library:preferences:Microsoft:com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist

file (where ~ is your home directory). Archive the file before deleting
if you don't want to be able to restore your prefs.

The easiest way to ensure that new workbooks have the properties you
want is to create a default workbook. To do so, create a new workbook
and format it the way you want: fonts, colors, number of sheets, etc.
Save it *as an Excel template* under the name "Workbook" (no quotes, no
extension) in the

HD:Applications:Microsoft Office <X/2004>:Office:Startup:Excel:

folder (or your alternate startup folder). From then on, XL will use
that workbook as a template for new books.
