Excel quits

When opening an Excel file created using Excel 98 Mac in Excel X, the
worksheet loads briefly and Excel quits "unexpectedly". Any fix?

I can still open the file on another computer using the older version of
Excel. The spreasheet has 12 sheets in the workbook.

Hi

Although this sounds like possibly a bad font on your system, have you
installed the Office service releases? Have you use Disk Utility First Aid
to repair permissions? If not, start with these.

I have taken both the steps you've mentioned. I have also run into an
identical problem with one Word document that was emailed to me. So
the notion of a bad font sounds like the right track. How do I correct
that. Again, I can open the document on an older system so if need be
I can make changes to the document. I'm trying to isolate the problem
on my new machine to eliminate it in the future.
