Excel Requires Restore of each spreadsheet

If I attempt to save a spreadsheet Excel does a recover and makes me save it
all over again.
I tried to use the Office CD that came with my Dell Dimension 9100 but it
tells me the installation source file is not present.

How do I get things back to normal?
