Excel - selection is grayed out on a shared doc

Please Help!

I created a document, selected Protection>Protect Sheet, then made it
shared document. My problem is now the “Unprotect Sheet” selection i
grayed out and I need to make some changes. I am also unable t
unshare the sheet. I would appreciate any info on the issue.

You have to unshare the workbook. That's the only way to change protection.

That was a mistake. My PC would freeze when I selected accept to post,
didn't know that they were actually posting.

It will not let me unshare the doc. Unless I am doing it wrong. An
sugestions?

Maybe if you posted what you did in detail, it would help others with
suggestions.

(I used Dick's technique and it worked for me, too.)

Post any error/warning messages, too.

I don't know if this question ever got answered, but I found myself in the
same situation today. I found that if the macros in my file were enabled, the
ability to unprotect the workbook and/or remove the shared status were not
possible. If your file has macros, chose to disable the macros when opening
the file, and you should be able to remove the sharing and the protection.
