Excel shut down by itself

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have Office 2008 running for my Mac 10.5, but when I open Word and Excel simultaneously, and trying to copy anything from Excel to Word, Excel will shut down by itself, saying that it encounter an error, and it is annoying coz my work requires me to use both at the same time. Any suggestion how to fix this?

Make sure you have all Office updates applied -- the current update level is
12.1.7 & the problem you describe was corrected in 12.1.0 IIRC. In either
program go to Help> Check for Updates.

Check to be sure that OS X is fully up to date as well (10.5.7). Run Disk
Utilities - Repair Disk Permissions & restart your Mac.
