Excel shuts down when copying and pasting data

Hi

A fellow user has Office 2000 installed on his laptop. He has suddently
encountered a bizarre problem.............

He copies a selction of text from an Excel spreadsheet (just a couple of
lines), switches to Powerpoint and clicks on Paste. Nothing pastes across
and Excel automatically closes without warning.

What could be the cause of this?

Have you installed the 12.0.1 update (Help/Check for Updates...)? We fixed a
bug for a problem like that in the 12.0.1 update.
