running office 2000 professional.

When starting excel, it always starts the "personal.xls"
workbook appears.

I know that there is a way to keep that from appearing,
but I cannot find it. How do you suppress that when excel
starts up?

Thank you in advance for your input.

Personal.xls should be there, as it holds global macros, etc, but it should
be hidden. When you have opened XL go to Window>Hide and exit. Save if
asked to do so. It will still be there, which is correct, but you won't be
able to see it
