Excel startup

I'm running Excel 2003 on Windows XP Pro SP1. When I
click on the icon to start excel my cursor becomes "busy"
for a brief moment and then nothing happens. I've tried
all of the tips given in the news groups (reinstalling,
deleting .xls...) but none of them work. Excel never
starts. What's interesting is that I had the identical
problem when I was running Excel XP on the same machine.
All other office aplications work fine. Does anyone have
any suggestions or any tips where I can get help? (i've
emailed microsoft with no response) Thank you.

Since I don't know what all troubleshooting steps you took, I can only suggest my own. I cannot think of one instance in which it did not work
