Excel stops Responding when openeing A document under Windows 2000

Hello !

When I try to open a file (about 8MB, 12 Tabs, and lot of
cross references) in any Excel version under Windows 2000,
excel stops resonding when I try to load it.
When I use Windows XP as Operating System everything works
fine.

Is there a know Problem about this, and a workaround apart
from installing Windows XP on all machines?
