Excel thinks mouse button is stuck down

P

PeterMagee

I am using Excel XP. I have a few apps open - Word, IE, Outlook, Money, MSN Messenger, Yahoo and AOL IM - and frequently Excel acts as if the mouse button is clicked down. I move the cursor around and the select area grows and changes. It keeps going when I move the cursor over the edge of the app window. I have to Alt-Tab to another app and then click right and Close Excel. At this point it asks if I want to save changes, and then closes. If Excel is the only app running, then bad news

Any ideas

One of the pages in IE has a Java app running. Why am I saying this? Because I dont trust Java!

Hi PeterMagee,
- and frequently Excel acts as if the mouse button is clicked down.

With a wheel mouse this state can sometimes be stopped by clicking the
wheel.
Other times pressing F8 helps (somewhere in Excel's statusbar it says
EXT).
