Excel toolbars

Running Leopard.

In View menu, I can't get the toolbars to show. I've checked Standard and Formatting, but no toolbars come up.

Leopard doesn't make a bit of difference Thanks for including the
information, but it would help more to know which version of Excel you're
using.

Do you have a workbook window open? In 2008 those toolbars are Docked in the
document window, so if you aren't displaying a document you won't have the
toolbars - except that the Formatting toolbar can be floating rather than
Docked.

Nope same for me.. I am running a brand new macbook with office 2008 and any toolbars "docked" do not show in the Excel document window.. obviously the standard toolbar cannot be undocked, hence never appears at all, which is painful to get around... any solutions welcomed..

Tacking on to other threads isn't likely to get the information you need
Besides, if he *did* find a solution he probably won't be back until he has
another problem (in which case he probably won't review this one) & if he
*didn't* it's pretty much an irrelevant question

Post your *complete* issue as a new message & provide the necessary
system/version info so those who reply can provide the appropriate
solutions... There can be significant differences in response depending on
specific configuration combinations.

In this case click the oval button at the right end of the document window's
title bar & see if that does the trick. If not, follow the suggestions above
& clarify exactly what the "same proble" (sic) is.

New to this forum but having same problem w/ tool bars not appearing when opening document.

Using Excel 12.1.0 on new Mac w/ Leopard
If I go to view and uncheck one of the toolbars and then recheck they appear,
BUT there is no way to make them open as default

Did you read the reply immediately above your post? The answer is in the
last paragraph It's a Mac OS X "feature". Further, file window toolbars
return to the screen in whatever state they were displayed when the file was
last used/closed.

Glad it was nothing more severe. If you have any additional puzzles to solve
we'll be glad to help if we can... Both OS X & Office are quite different
from what you've been using but not everything is as well documented as we
might prefer.

I dipped into this forum for the first time and was honestly a little surprised to see -- in the first thread I perused -- an MVP writing two paragraphs mocking someone who was asking for help before getting to the answer.

And then gratuitously making fun of the reader's typo on top of that.

And then when another user asks the same question, this "MVP" can't resist first chastising him for not noticing his answer in the previous post -- even though it was buried under all this ridicule.

The second user was nice enough just to express gratitude, but really, there's no need for that kind of attitude here. Right?

We're all grateful when someone more knowledgeable can help us with something, we all come here looking for help not to be belittled. And just think of all the keystrokes one could save by just getting right to the answer!

You think it bad here.

This set of news groups are like a breath of fresh Air and a Sunday
picnic compared to newsgroups on Mozilla Org. They have one Moderator
there that is so reviled That everyone wants to find his location and
beat him with a stick.

Sometimes a MVP has a Bad day or you come in on the tail end of a thread
in which the MVP has become exasperated with the questioner.

Some times all of use on occasion Joke around and forget to put an
emoticon (smiley) at the end to denote poking fun.

AS much as I dislike MicroSoft. I am resigned to using their products
because they best serve my purposes and the only *real* game in town.
That being said, I find these forums one of the best run, most business
like Groups on the internet. I also like it that they like to let their
hair down on occasion as well. And don't take these forums as proving
their worth in life. I wish I was have intelligent, and good as any of
the MVP here.

If your just into the internet, your going to find more and more people
of all types demeanor. You also have to develop a Thick hide. When I got
on the internet in back in the days of Bulletin Board and 150 baud
modems; I was very sensitive to any comments. I took all as an insult to
me personally. Now I have the hide three times thicker than a T-Rex.

So these groups are soft compared to others I read.
