Excel Treats Text cell as formula

D

Doug Edwards

I have a Spreadsheeet I have been using for 5 Years.

All of a sudden today I cannot edit two of the columns...

One is a text cell coumn and everytime I try to edit it, I am told that I
have a formula error. I have checked the format, and it is indeed setup as a
general cell.

The other is a Date Cell which is properly formatted. Whenever I change the
dates, they come back as 00/00/01. If I click on the actual field after
that, I can see the correct date in the formula bar preceeded by an equals
sign...for example it would say =01/10/05

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks,

Doug

What precedes the text column, is Excel inserting a = in front of that
entry?

Without that info and as it has just started, check out
Tools>Options>Transition and check all looks OK there
