Excel v.X Linked Workbooks Crash

Setup "workbook A" where I could post a string of EOD stock data. {Date &
Price}
Linked "workbook C, D, E..." off the first book. For Equations & Charts
derived from Date/Price.
Books are about 800 rows deep.
They ran well but are starting to crash the application on launch.
Ran well means: Basic Chart, 90 & 200 day averages & MACD indicator had no
problems.
Upon adding RSI & Stochastic the books started to crash on opening.
-Where can I find out the limits on Linking?
-Did subsequent versions of Office for Mac solve this issue.
Disks have been Tech Tooled, Defraged and Tiger Cache Cleaned. Same Result.

There does not seem to be any limit listed in the Excel specifications.
What OS? I seem to remember a limit (32K) to the number of cells in open
workbooks that contain formulas, but I can't find a recent reference to it.
If you have 800 rows with a bunch of columns on many different worksheets,
you may be close to this IF it is really a limit.

Thanks for the input.
I'm running 10.4.8 on an EMac w/725 Meg Ram.

Further Search pointed me at a "corrupt fontbook problem" which is well
addressed at:
http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html
Whether I've addressed the problem or not will take a few days. but it made
sense as I've constructed these workbooks on both PC and Mac {Work vs Home).
A corrupt fontbook can cause excel and a wide variety of programs to crash
unexpectedly.

If this was the culpret or not: I'll report back / start scrubbing the MS
Knowledge Base.
Thanks again
