im considering access to replace my overused excel file
with a database system. can access practically can do
what excel can? Better?
Can a crescent wrench practically do what a hammer can? Better?
Excel is a spreadsheet, a very good one.
Access is a relational database. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. It is NOT a
"bigger" or a "better" spreadsheet, and trying to use it as if it were
one is like driving nails with a crescent wrench - yes, you can do it,
but it's the wrong tool!
It's very likely that a properly designed database will in fact
fulfill your business need as well as, or better than, a spreadsheet;
but you'll have to do a LOT of rebuilding and rethinking the logic of
the program.
