Excel - While editing a cell: File download dialog (DDE)

Friends.

Eerie stuff.

1. Open an excel workbook.

2. Start cell editing (do not end editing)

3. Double click on any other excel document in Windows Explorer
(Hope DDE is enabled in shell extension handler: Default xls setting)

4. You will get a "File Download" dialog.
This will last (and the double-clicked document will not open) until
the cell edit ends.


Million Dollar Question: How can this be prevented?
Or
Does Excel.Application coclass expose any such property which could be
accessed to know beforehand about this suspended state?
