Excel will not open PERSONAL.XLS in XLSTART

When Excel opens, the file PERSONAL.XLS in program files/../Office 10/XLSTART
does not open automatically. However any other file name in that folder will
open. And PERSONAL.XLS will open if it is in the user's own
...Microsoft/Excel/XLSTART.

This problem has only ocurred in the last three weeks - before, it worked
normally.

It only affects one user. The other user's Excel opens PERSONAL.XLS normally.

Running Windows XP and Office XP.

With that installed combination you have the personal.xls in the wrong
location. In my installation it is in

C:\Documents and Settings\Nick Hodge\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

So this users should be in the same folder, just with the log on name being
different. (The Application Data folder is hidden so you will have to change
that in folder options.)

Move the personal.xls to there and all should be well.

You could use the old destination, but would need to change the 'alternate
start-up folder' under Tools>Options.General.
