Excel will not open

I have Excel 2002 as part of Office XP Professional running
on Windows XP Professional. I can no longer open Excel by
double clicking on a saved worksheet or thru "open"
command. I have reinstalled Office XP Pro but the problem
continues. Any suggestions? Thanks.
