Excel won't display the final year on my chart on the x axis.

I can't even begin to describe my frustration and how many hours I've lost due to this. Excel won't show 2009 on the x axis in my chart. It stops at 2008. Every time I try to change the scale I get a message saying that it is invalid data entry used for this chart, then it changes the year to 36,000. I called support and they couldn't answer the simplest excel questions. They are not only not experts but don't know any more about excel than the average user. One person hung up on me and another had me on hold for an hour researching. Then they said that i'd used up my two free requests even though they didn't give me the answer. I got Mac so that things would be simple and work. This is so non-intuitive. even the wording and the checkboxes on the scale window are totally confusing. I'm not sure if the Windows version is any better or worse but I cannot believe that this is so non-user friendly. Can someone help? Thanks.

Can you post as more complete example. The easy solution might be to simply
increase the chart range for one more year.

Are you plotting a scatterplot or a category-based series? Nearly all
Excel chart formats other than 'scatterplot' are brain-dead when it
comes to setting the axis scales and ranges.
