Excel won't exit

I have two users with Excel (2000) and when they try to exit, the "save as" dialog box appears. Sometimes this happens when no spread sheet is open, and they just want to close the app. Sometimes this happens when they have just saved and want to exit. Does anyone have any ideas for how to repair this? I have tried a reinstall, but that did not fix the problem

I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with your excel but you
can try this:

go to tools --> options --> transition

make sure that the box "Save Excel File as" has Microsoft
Excel workbook.
