Excel won't launch

Running Office Pro. 2000 with Windows 98. Just downloaded
critical updates for IE6 Service Pack 1 and Outlook
Express 6 Service Pack 1.

Now when I try to launch Excel, it freezes. Word,
PwrPoint and all other programs on computer are fine.
Have tried to to reinstall Office, but the freeze
continues to occur.
