Excel won't open - even in safemode

Hi, i've been reading through the forums, I've tried
every option. I'm not exactly sure where this problem
started, it might have been after I updated one of MS
critical updates, but now excel.exe will not open. It
just keeps giving me either "Excel failed to start
correctly last time. Safe Mode..." or "Error open in
safe mode, Detect and Repair"
Each time it goes into its little Please Wait while
Office XP configures box.
I just recently did a fresh install of XP and Office XP,
might have been a critical update or some update

I am having the exact same problem, I have OfficeXP w/SP2
Cd, and i have installed, repaired,
uninstalled/reinstalled everything, and no luck in
getting excel to run. Word, power point, access all run
great, but Excel won't do a damn thing but complain it
didn't start right.

How do i Fix this? MS KB is crap, I found an article that
states teh problem, but it states no answer at all.
