Excel won't open

I can not completely open the Excel Application. It hangs
after it displays the 1st screen to opening the
application. When clicking CTRL-ALT-DELETE to see which
process is not responding, I get the following message:
System dangerously low on resources! Microsoft Excel not
responding.

I am getting this message from two of my PCs running Win98
and Office 2000.

Appreciate any suggestions from anyone.
