Excel won't save GBP sign formatted currency amount

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

Every time I save my spreadsheet with amounts formatted in GB pounds, when it reopens, all the GB pounds amounts are in US dollars.

Can you format Excel so it saves in pounds rather than dollars?

Have you applied the 12.1.0 update? It reportedly corrects the problem.
