Excel wont save properly

While I am in any Excel worksheet or a new worksheet and
I want to "save as" It does not seem to allow it. It does
not allow me to give the new file a title. There are no
macros involved. Please help, Any Ideas? Thanks for your
help.

When I'm working on a network, and the network hiccups while I have the
file open, Excel cannot find it's way back home and willnot save, nor will
it let me "save as".....it's very messy trying to copy and close and
re-paste the stuff back into the newly opened file.........better tonot work
with the file open from a network if you can..............otherwise, trouble
might be related to your anti-virus software......
