Background: I have created a form in Exce and therefore I
have it setup as a template(.xlt). I have a link in the
Excel sheet that opens up a Word document, which is also
part of the form and another template (.dot)
Problem:I am also trying to pull part of the excel doc
into the word doc as a link. The linking is not a problem.
The problem is that when the excel sheet opens, it opens
as a copy because it's a template and then when you click
on the link to open the word doc you open a copy of that
as well. The end result is that both links in the copies
point back to the original templates instead of the new
documents and therefore the info does not transfer over
and you can't go from the excel to word.
Question: Can I do something that will force the links to
change to the new file names each time a new file is
created from the templates? OR Can I create a macro that
will automatically ask the user which excel doc the word
doc should be linked to?
PLEASE HELP! Even if it's just to say 'can't be done'
thank you
