Excel X corrupts files with Pivot Tables - Recovery possible onlyin Windows

C

Carlos Perez

I am finding the Excel X frequently corrupts files that have large pivot
tables, and I am only able to recover those files using Excel for Windows.
Has anyone had this type of problem, and do you have any suggestions to
eliminate/mitigate this problem?

Thanks,

Carlos

How large are you talking about? I use PT's with thousands of elements
frequently.

Thanks for looking into it. The worksheets (3) are 64000 rows by 10
columns each, and each pivot table only references one worksheet.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you - I've been trying to corrupt
a 65000 row x 10 column PT and can't do it.

Sometimes workbooks just get corrupted. I'd suggest you try copying and
pasting your data to a blank workbook and recreate your PTs.

Excel X corrupts files with Pivot Tables - Recovery possible only in
WindowsCarlos,

We're having exactly the same problem. This appears to be somehow new, as
we've been using large pivot tables in v.X for some time now, and have only
recently encountered this problem.

I haven't found any way to fix the problem (or any common theme to it other
than pivot tables). We're currently using the open and repair functionality
of Office 2003 (Windows) to fix the files when it occurs. This works, but I
would love to find a way to avoid the problem in the first place.

Make sure you send feedback to MacBU using the Help/Feedback on Excel
menu item.

I've put a bug in about this. Is there any possiblity of your being able
to send me a file that's corrupted? I'd like to take a look at it, since
I can't generate the problem on my system.
