Excel X to Excel 2004 incompatability?

We are having an issue where we are opening documents generated in
Excel X in Excel 2004 and the column width especially but also row
sizes change to a smaller size. This results in ### symbols in various
cells. We are looking to upgrade to Office 2004 and have hundreds of
Excel docs. Is there some other way of getting the correct column and
row sizes from one Excel to the other or is someone going to hav e to
manually alter every document?

There might be a font or printer driver issue. If these are the same on both
machines, the column widths and row heights should not be an issue. Yu can
"best fit" the row heights and column widths with very little manual effort
should you need to do it.
