Excel X - Turning currency to whole numbers - HELP

I've never seen this before. using Office X (latest update) - when I open ANY
worksheet, all fields that had been earlier entered as currency are being
turned into whole numbers, decimal is dropped and dollar sign is gone. This
just started happening. I can't find any setting or reason.

Help - I depend on excel for so many things and have been using it for
YEARS. I've never seen this happen.
