Excel(XP) File size "bloating"?

I have a workbook that contains a few jpg's as well as some text sheets and
a couple of graph sheets(the graphs are just "pictures" of the actual graph
done in another workbook). Oh, and it has one Word .doc copied and pasted
in as a Word Object.

The file size when all there is approx. 5.2meg. If I eliminate the photos
and the Word .doc, it drops to 2.4 meg. If I then go to the original and
delete all worksheets except the photos and .doc, it is 4.4meg. Even worse,
if I "copy" just the photo pages and the .doc page, it's 12meg!

How can I keep this, apparently anyway, "bloating" from happening? I need
to be able to email either the entire workbook, or two separate ones, and
the email size needs to be under 5meg. Separating them one way seems to do
that, but the one listed at 4.4meg above doesn't have all the photos
inserted yet.

Thanks!
Shawn

It's not just based on number of championships won. Richard Petty won
200 races and 7 Daytona 500s in his 30+ year driving career. He also has
the most top-5s (555), top-10s (712), poles (126), laps completed
(307,836), laps led (52,194), races led (599) and consecutive races won
(10 in 1967) of any driver in NASCAR history.
