EXCEL XP Won't save

I have an Excel file with links into another 6 files. The file is
password protected as well.

When I try to do a save as and change the password Excel just hangs.
Every time I do a <Ctrl><Alt><Delete> I have noticed that the CPU is
always sitting at 51%.

Is there a way to fix this problem? I am running Windows 2000 Pro.
