I would like to be able to share a spread sheet with co-
worker. I need to be able to lock an area of cells but
still be able to edit the rest of the form. So half of
the sheet can not be edited while the other half can. HELP

Select all cells,
Right click.
Select format.
Select protection.
Check 'locked'.

Select those cells you will allow changes in.
Right click.
Select format.
Select protection.
Uncheck 'locked'.

Select 'Tools' from the menu bar.
Select 'Protect sheet'
Enter password if desired.

Give it a try and see if this is what you want.

By default all cells are locked when Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet is
enabled.

To lock just certain cells on a worksheet, select all cells with CRTL + A.
Format>Cells>Protection> uncheck "locked".

Go back to the worksheet and select the cells you wish to be locked.
Format>Cells>Protection check "locked".

Now Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet. Provide a password to unprotect.......DO
NOT forget the password or you will be back here again asking how to unprotect
a passworded worksheet. <g>

If you are using XL2002(XP) there are new features with the Sheet Protection
that allow certain functions to be carried out on Protected sheets. Also
permissions can be given for editing rights.
