excel!!!!!!

how do you turn off the option where you type 1-24 into a
cell to describe a field and the program immeditly changes
it from 1-24 to jan 24? this is totally annoying and any
advice would be greatly appriciated.

Format the cell as text priorily

Format the cell(s) for the date format you want to see
displayed, or for "text" if the data is not intended to be
used as a date. If the date format you want doesn't exist
among the selections, you can create a custom format by
selecting "custom" in the format list and typing the
instructions into the dialog box.
