excel'97 file to excel 2002

before my hdd format i had excel '97 installed on my pc,
i made a back-up of does files and formatted my disk and
then installed offixe XP with excel 2002. Now i cannot
open my files anymore.
Does anybody knoe how to make it work again??

Are you talking about .xls files, as these should open as normal in 2002 as the
file format is the same. If you are talking about Excel 97 itself, then you
cannot just backup the files and put them on to your new machine, though with
2002 installed, I can't imagine this is what you are trying to do..
