Excels auto recovery file is saving as a backup, how do i stop tha

The hidden recovery file is saving itself as an unhidden backup file when
ever is ave the workbook. is there a setting i do not know about for this and
how can i change this back?

File>Save As>Tools>General Options.

Uncheck "always create backup"

Recovery as in autorecovery, right?

The recovery file isn't hidden. But it's usually stored in an out of the way
place that you wouldn't notice.

Make sure that the folder location is where you want it.

In xl2003 menus:
Tools|Options|Save
change the autorecover save location.

I've never changed mine (xl2003 and winXP home) and it points to:

C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\

If Gord.................Office Button>Save As>Excel Workbook(or any format
you choose)

Lower left corner you will see "Tools" button.

i am talking about the hidden file that appears in the folder of the file you
just opened. It turns itself into an exel back up file when ever you save the
workbook.
