Exception occurs when quitting Word 2000

By one of are web appliactions Word 2000 is started through javascript.
It all works fine unitl Word is closed. Then winword.exe creates an
exception:

Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=772)
When: 11/12/2003 @ 13:18:59.738
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

It tried installing all updates and patches of Office 2K and Windows 2K but
it does not help.
I tried offXP and off2003 and they work fine.
Has anyone any idea what causes this in Word 2000 (upgrading all
workstations is not an option at the moment).

I don't have an answer, but I can sympathize. I have the
same issue on a W2K SP-4 box with Office 2K updated thru
today. My error occurs when editting messages in Outlook
using Word as the editor, and a couple other Office Apps
including Excel, FrontPage, etc...

Please let me know what you end up trying.
