excerpting music from CDs

Howdy,

I have about 10 seconds of music from a CD that I want to
add to a presentation. What would be a common / easy to
excerpt a portion out of a CD track? I have realplayer,
winamp, and a couple of other music related applications
that came with my system. Will one of them do it? I am
thinking this should not be so complicated. Any ideas?

For a 10 second clip the easy way is to use "Sound Recorder". In WindowsXP
Start> All Program> Accessories> Entertainment> Sound Recorder.

Great idea. I gave it a try. Unfortunately I have it in
Windows media file format (v9) and sound recorder will
not open it. Infact all my CD music shows up as windows
media format. Is there a way around this?
