excessively large program file size (4,094.00 MB)

Hello there.

I have a tablet PC that is currently running Microsoft Office OneNote
2003. When I was uninstalling a program earlier today, I noticed that
my OneNote size is extremely large - 4,094.00 MB to be exact! I
reinstalled the program, thinking there was a problem with the initial
installation. However, even after reinstallation the file is the same
size. Is anyone else coming across problem? Is there a way to compress
the file? What is the average program file size for OneNote 2003?

Thanks,
Cindy

Cindy,

Which file are you referring to?

Do you mean the ONENOTE.EXE file on the hard drive, or the amount of
memory used as reported via Task Manager? Possibly the estimated program
size in the Add/Remove Programs list?

Yes, I was looking at the estimated size in the add/remove programs.
Could it be the estimation is off, or is the OneNote program really
that large of a file? Thanks.

My guess it includes what is in your "notebook". So if you've got a bunch of
sound or video recordings using onenote, that may be taking up the space.
But I could be wrong.

That is an estimate (and a bad one, at that). Notice also how the last
used and usage frequency are probably very wrong as well ;)

If OneNote is working fine I wouldn't worry about what Add/Remove
Programs says.

If you're still curious, you can check the actual size of the
installation by right-clicking on the "Microsoft Office" folder in
Explorer (full path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office).

My installation folder (full Office2003, including Publisher and
InfoPath) is about 578MB.
