Exchange 2003 and Outlook MAC 2001

We seem to have developed a problem while upgrading to Exchange 2003
in our environment. Our advertising department fails to find the
server EVERY DAY so far, the MAC clients are not using DHCP, the DNS
settings have been updated, the machines hav ebeen rebooted, and I
have created a HOSTS file for them. When I set up a new profile
however, if finds the server just fine, until the next day when it
seems to forget where the server was the day before. Any help or
suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Scott!

Your Macs only need a Hosts file if you don't have DNS on your network. The
Macs should consult entries in the Hosts file first before having to contact
DNS servers for name resolution.

To test, I'd suggest replacing a Hosts file with an empty Hosts file so that
you don't need to reset any TCP/IP preferences. Then reboot the Mac so that
the new empty Hosts file loads.

If this works for you, consider removing the Hosts files altogether and
setting the TCP/IP Control Panel so that it no longer looks for a Hosts
file.
