Exchange 2003 connectivity issues

I am having lot of trouble connecting to our newly built Exchange 2003
server while using outlook 2007 across our LAN. When I try to set the
profile up I enter the users alias name & the FQDN of the exchange
server, after about 45 seconds it returns a message saying that the
exchange server is not available. I can ping the server via IP or FQDN
and get a response.... The od thing is that I can also connect to the
server using outlook 2003 no problems at all.. Has anybody seen or
fixed this issue before??

any help is greatly appreciated.
