Have a pop account set up in exchange. When I try to set up an exchange account and make the exchange account default, everything looks ok, but emails go to the pop account.

What do you mean by "emails go to the pop account"? Please be more
specific about exactly what is going wrong.

By nature, POP accounts download all messages from the server and deletes
the copy on the server UNLESS you select in the Options tab for the POP
account to "leave on server."

You should not have the POP account Checked to run if you are going to set
up an Exchange account on that same computer.

After setting up the two accounts (pop and exchange), emails received go only to the pop account. The exchange account has been set as default and the pop account has been set to not be in the send and receive schedule.

If these are both accessing the same account on the same server, just
delete the POP account. The Exchange account will maintain a sync.

That sounds like an elegant solution,; however, we would like to keep the pop account for the emails stored in it. Other computers set up in the same way perform flawlessly.

Is there another way?

Deleting a POP account will not delete its messages - the "On My
Computer" folders are stored on your computer.
