We have an Exchange 2003 Server and have a problem in both real and test
environments:
When we deactivate the Mail Datastore (we have just one), clientside Outlook
does not recognize this and keeps being "online" (cached mode). Only when we
hard restart Outlook, the status is changed to "disconnected". However, when
we change the Datastore status back to online, Outlook inconsistently changes
its status to "connected", without having to restart the Outlook client.
(When the datastore is disconnected, with Outlook not having recognized it's
offline status, a new email can be sent but instantly gets the "not
delivered, no error code" answer from our exchange server.
The latter thing is just the reason I am trying to overcome this problem)
