exchange contacts and calendar lost after recent DB maintenance

Hi everyone,

I am running Entourage Version 11.4.0 (080122) on my macbook pro
running Leopard.

I rely heavily on Entourage for storing over 1500 contacts and lots of
calendar entries, appointments, schedules, etc.

Last night I ran the database tool to verify the DB, rebuild and then
compact it.

I'm ok with the fact that I always have to reset my mailing-list rules
after 'doing' the database.. but.. for the first time ever, it seems
i've lost ALL OF MY CONTACTS AND CALENDAR...

If I try to view my exchange Address Book (rather than the one 'on my
computer') all I see in the window where the list of contacts should
be is "An unknown error (-17766) occurred."

When I switch to the Calendar, the only Calendar that shows up in the
'Views' list is the one 'on my computer'.

Of course I can see everything if I use weboutlook.. so the data is
all still there in the exchange server...

But I can't seem to get Entourage to pull it across and show it to me.

Any suggestions... this is an incredible bummer...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions.

Joshua

Hi Joshua!

I personally don't recommend rebuilding a Database that contains an
Exchange account. If you have problems with the rebuild and something
strange happens to your messages then those changes could synchronize to
your Exchange Server. I suggest always using Entourage --> Switch
Identity... to create a new identity, re-creating your Exchange account
and then allowing Entourage to sync again with your server.

For the problem you're describing I suggest you empty your Contacts
cache. Switch to the Contacts view then right-click or Control-click
Contacts under your Exchange account, select Folder Properties and click
the Empty button to empty the cache. You can also select the account
itself and empty the cache for all of your folders.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I think I was able to empty the cache. However, when trying to sync I
get "The action could not be completed. An unknown error (170)
occurred."

So.. back to the drawing board.. any ideas?

:)

Thanks!

J.

After flushing the cache and re-syncing didn't work I simply created a
new Exchange account in Entourage. It's synced well enough though it
seems that about 100 contacts are missing... other than that it's all
good.

Thanks!

Joshua
