Exchange Extensions keep getting broken

For some reason, after installing Windows XP, SP2 and upgrading Symantec
Enterprise 9 to build 1400, the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions\Exchange
Extensions keep getting replaced by a single character. I have repeatedly
replaced it with the correct information, deleted and allowed Outlook to
rebuild the extend.dat file, run the Symantec registry fix tool, but it
still keeps getting broken after a few days. This is happening on a few of
the 300+ PC we upgraded.

This is getting old - I want to fix the key permanently without resorting to
having to put security on the stupid extension.

Any hints?

AFAIK that's a Symantec problem and needs to be fixed by them.

One of our admins found information that indicates Office 2003 SP1 solves
the problem. We have updated the afflicted machines and we will see if it
really does fix it.
