Exchange Phantom Rules

Jenn

We are running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server environment. On the
client side, we are running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP SP2.

I have an end user who is receiving forwarded e-mails from another
individual. There used to be a rule in place to do this for a particular
report, but this was removed long ago. However, the rules (behavior)
persists and we can't find the location to get rid of it.

This is starting to bug my user, any thoughts? Any help is appreciated.

**We've already addressed the client-side rules and their isn't any, it has
been determined that this is server side**

did you try the switch to remove the server side rules?

if so, and if it still fails, I'd probably use outlookspy to look for it and
delete it - you'll need to be in classic (not cached) mode.

I've tried this already, no go. I've looked at the CleanSweep tool and
Mdbvy32 utilities, do these work? Will these tools cause more harm than
good? Any othe suggestions? Thanks.

they should all have the same effect, but it's worth a try. The rules are
stored as hidden messages in the inbox - more on it here:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/fix_junk.htm. If you know the name of the
rule, look for it using outlookspy or mdbvue.
