exchange problem

one of my work mates is having an annoying problem, which seems to be
only unqiue to her exchange account. She stopped getting emails just
two days ago, and then the exchange server report a login/password
error. So she changed her password and then entourage was trying to
download the new emails, it kept display "updating inbox" on her status
window, then after 10mins it would show the same alert window, saying
her login/password was incorrect. Furthermore all of her folder on the
exchange account aren't displaying any of the emails anymore...

Is there anyway to sync all the emails from her exchange account back
to entourage?

She has updated to the latest version of Office 2004, has OSX 10.3.9
and using a G5. another work mate has the same computer but no problems
at all with the exchange.

When she logs onto the Webmail or Outlook (PC) this program is not
ocurring.

Does anyone know what her problem is?

I am assuming you are connected to the windows exchange server.
Unfortunately if you are not using active directory to authenticate
changing your password in entourage will ot help. You may have to go
to a windows machine logon and then change your password so it will
replicate through the system, then you will be able to log onto the
exchange server and get your email. We have the problem here and I am
working on getting a unified logon to the windows network for all mac
users. currently I used the aforementioned solution. Hope this solves
the issue.

If you want to make sure you have all of the emails that are currently
being stored on the Exchange server, one thing you can do is empty the
cache in Entourage.

Right-click or control-click on the Exchange account in Entourage and
select "Empty Cache". Right after that the mailbox on the client will
update with everything that's stored on the exchange server.

You can also do this on an individual basis for each folder (i.e.
inbox, sent items, deleted items). Any folder that is stored on the
Exchange server.

Beware, though. Since we do not sync categories, projects, or links up with
the Exchange server, those will go away forwever.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, i've tried all these and nothing has
worked.

She put in a new password on a PC machine, which did not help
Emptied the cache for the inbox on the exchange and nothing happened.
It tried to update the inbox, then it seemed not to find any emails and
stopped.

Could it be the fact that my work mate has a lot of emails stored on
the exchange server?

Another point is that entourage on her computer doesn't seem to connect
to the exchange server automatically (it shows the "not connected" text
next to her inbox).

She also reinstalled entourage, maybe if she deletes her database as
well, do you think that would help? But is there anyone to backup her
old emails, so she can import them again?

Is there any network issues that need to be resolved.

Hi Halmat!

I'm only now reading this thread and thought I'd offer an idea. I
recently had to troubleshoot an Exchange/Entourage issue where the
server refused to communicate with Entourage on only one machine and for
one user on that machine.

We're not sure what caused the problem and it's happened twice within
the past few months but changing the Mac's IP address to something else
resolved our issue. It was receiving an IP via DHCP and so I hard coded
an IP temporarily. Strangely, if I hard coded the "bad" IP to another
machine, it too would fail.

My only idea is that someone at the times this happened tried to put a
device on the network that conflicted somehow and the Exchange server
kept trying to return information to the wrong device.

Hope this helps! bill
