Exchange Profile

Mick

I'm trying to find the location of the exchange profiles on our server.

I want to append to all our users 'Safe Sends List' that is tied in with
their profile on the server, but I don't know how to locate the folder /
file. I have had a look around and can't seem to find anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Mail profiles are kept in the Windows Registry on each PC, not in a file,
per se.

I don't know where the Safe Senders list resides because it doesn't appear
to be a file on disk or in the registry. Perhaps it's in a hidden folder in
the Outlook data store.

I was thinking there could be a folder like on the local machine;
C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

but on the server instead. Currently we know how to update the Safe Senders
list by a custom install of Outlook on each local machine, we don't want to
do this...We want to do it on the server so it roams with them, but we don't
know where the profiles are located.

Thanks for that, I will have a look and see if thats the right area.

It's stored in the mailbox and duplicated in the registry. I have the keys
documented on one of my websites, but they really aren't needed because any
time you log on to a new machine the reg key is updated with the master list
in the mailbox.

Are you using roaming profiles? If so, it's in the location you specify for
roaming profiles.

Are these among the keys that get encoded? I could find no trace in the
Registry of any of the strings contained in the Safe Senders list.

below this key.

Thanks. There they are. Since each character byte is stored in a word (two
bytes), it's no wonder a search couldn't find them. There's a null
character between each real character.

Those registry values are Unicode and thus take two bytes for each character.
