Exchange Recovery Mode

When I start up Outlook I get a message that says "Exchange is currently in
recovery mode. You can connect using the network, work offline, or cancel
logon." (Just prior to my Exchange Server logon.) What is this? How do I
"fix' it?

Delete the profile and create a new one.

The message means that your mailbox identifier has changed. Outlook 2003
includes a new feature that allows you to still access mail stored in your
old OST even after it detects the change (previous Outlook products simply
locked you out completely). Deleting the profile means the old OST will be
locked and for all intents the mail in the OST is gone. Creating a new
profile will create a new OST.

The Exchange Recovery Guide provides an excellent step by step on why this
happens as well as how to get out of it.

The description of why this happens is on pages 48 & 49.
