Exchange Server Unavailable

TJ

Hello:

I have configured many XP machines to our NT server. I am trying to
configure Outlook now) everything else works fine and both outlook 2003 and
2000 are taking forever to find the server mailbox and when they do, I get a
"Exchange Server Unavailable...retry, work offline, etc."

I am ping the server fine, and mapped drives are working very quickly. Any
tips???

Please help!

Thanks!

See if the server's FQDN is correct and that the MX records are in DNS as
well. Also check that all firewall in between are configured correctly as
well.

The Exchange/Outlook world is still primarily based out of WINS name
resolution. You should try adding the server name and ip address to the
client's hosts and lmhosts files. If Outlook is snappy at this point, you
have a name resolution issue.
