exclude dictionary

In Word 2004, I have been unable to activate an exclude dictionary that I
have named "US English Spelling Dictionary Exclude.dic" and have placed in
the same folder as "US English Spelling Dictionary" in the folder "Macintosh
HD/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Shared Applications/Proofing
Tools/"

I have also tried putting both in "Macintosh HD/ Library/Preferences/
Microsoft folder/" but that does not work either.

I have tried to activate the exclude dictionary by choosing it as a custom
dictionary. Both activating it and not activating faied.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to structure an exclude
dictionary in Word 2004 so that it works?

Try putting it in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft, where ~ is your username.
Mine works there. Remember that it is case-sensitive, and that you have to
quit and restart Word for it to pick up new entries.
