exclusive use

Kirsten

I have a shortcut to a database on a shared drive that
gets accessed by approximatly 5 people at different
workstations.

I want to set the databse so only one person can access it
at a time.

Reading the other emails I found one that said to enter

/excl

in the target window of the shortcut. However, when I do
this and click on the short cut it says it is an invalid
path.

Am I doing something wrong?\

Thanks in advance

Hi Kirsten

The /excl should be at the end of the target line, after the database
filename, and you must include the Access executable program as well (the
extra switches won't work through file associations).

Here is the format:
"path to MSACCESS.exe" "Path to your MDB" /excl

For example:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\msaccess.exe" "D:\My
folder\MyDB.mdb" /excl
